Mr. White Hat, the hacker responsible for the PolyNetwork cyber-attack gets a job offer. More specifically, after stealing around $610m and returning nearly $400m, PolyNetwork offers the hacker a job position as the Chief Security Advisor.
The initial offer from PoyNetwork included a $500.000 bounty, for returning the missing tokens. As part of the entire deal, PolyNetwork is prepared to keep its end of the bargain and transfer the funds, in addition to offering the hacker a job position.
The only thing that the hacker needs to do is return the missing private wallet keys that contain the stolen tokens. That is with the purpose of returning the funds to the original investors in this DeFi protocol.
In an official statement by PolyNetwork, they openly offer the white hacker a chance to become part of the team:
The entire hacking ordeal for PolyNetwork forced the company to take drastic measures in order to radically improve security. Aside from PolyNetwork job offers and hiring the hacker, they just finished the second phase of their Majnnet Upgrade. That is with the goal to make the entire platform far more robust prior to the hack.
More specifically, to prevent similar bugs in the system that can potentially enable another by-pass of the transaction custodians. Something that was the case the first time with Mr. White Hat. Who even himself said that he could’ve taken tokens worth billions of dollars.
