Houston Rockets Jumps The Crypto Bandwagon

Two-time NBA champions Houston Rockets started a new partnership deal with one of the leading bitcoin platforms in the world, NYDIG. This new deal will see NYDIG as the official partner of the Rockets for all bitcoin-related services.

In addition, the crypto company will also get special VIP access to pretty much every digital and social platform of the Houston Rockets. These include, but are not limited to both in-arena and social platforms.

Moreover, the Houston Rockets wish to use this new partnership to further educate their fans on crypto. And in order to achieve that, they will rely on the logistics and tools provided by NYDIG.

When giving an official statement on the matter, the President of Business Operations of the Rockets, Gretchen Sheirr said the following:

Our organization has leaned on advancements in technology to remain on the cutting edge. Partnering with NYDIG allows us to leverage the growth of Bitcoin to provide creative rewards and payment options to our fanbase and associates.Gretchen Sheirr | President of Business Operations at Houston Rockets

Unfortunately, the exact amount of this new partnership deal between the Houston Rockets and NYDIG is not available. However, the Chief Marketing Officer at NYDIG, Kelly Brewster, reveals that Houston Rockets will receive the money via bitcoin.

The Rockets will be paid in bitcoin, and this partnership underscores our excitement about the Houston area and the Bitcoin innovation taking place there.Kelly Brewster | Chief Marketing Officer at NYDIG

This sponsorship will see NYDIG get partial naming rights of the Houston Rockets’ official home arena, the Toyota Center. While this doesn’t include court naming rights, NYDIG will still get to apply its brand to the arena’s suite levels.

Consequently, the Toyota Center’s suite level will bear the name ‘Bitcoin Suites by NYDIG’. And as part of the deal, NYDIG will also get court advertising for any home games of the Houston Rockets.

This is not the first time a crypto-oriented company to forge a partnership with an NBA franchise. In fact, just a few days ago, Crypto.com got the naming rights of the legendary Staples Center, turning into the Crypto.com Arena.

And that is the case with NYDIG as well, who seem to forge new partnerships quite frequently. For example, Bottlepay, a lightning network payments company. Consequently, the partnership made it possible for Bottlepay to integrate its Lightning Network platform with NYDIG’s offer.

Moreover, earlier in November, NYDIG also partnered with Landry’s, a leading entertainment and dining company. As a result, Landry’s got a brand new bitcoin loyalty program, with unique bitcoin rewards for its users.

We only expect this trend to continue in the future. Especially if we take a look at the pace with which sports teams worldwide partner up with crypto companies. And this definitely opens up a new era in the naming rights and sponsorship deals. One that will surely benefit everyone.
