Alfa Romeo, the famous Italian luxury car manufacturer, reveals that the company will integrate NFT technology into its new SUV model, the Tonal.
According to Alfa Romeo, the Tonal will be able to connect to the blockchain, and consequently both track and store all maintenance data.
In addition, the Italian luxury car manufacturer also reveals that the new car will have the ability to issue an official certificate of maintenance, comprised of all of the gathered data.
However, only authorized dealerships of Alfa Romeo will have the permission to access the blockchain data.
The head of the marketing department at Alfa Romeo, Francesco Calcara, claims that with this step, the company is starting a new era via a ‘digital metamorphosis’.
However, it is still unclear whether Alfa Romeo will drop any NFT car collectables in the upcoming months. Considering that the company did not give an official statement regarding an official NFT drop.
With that being said, dwelling into NFT waters might actually seem like a good idea for Alfa Romeo at this moment. Considering the poor sales that the Italian automotive company reports three years in a row now.
More specifically, Alfa Romeo reported selling fewer than 19.000 vehicles per year, since 2019. If we compare those numbers with 60.000 by Mercedes in a single quarter in 2022, the difference is more than evident.
Regardless, the number of industries that are converting NFTs into productive tools and features is definitely increasing by the day.
One good example of this is the encryption of medical records as non-fungible tokens, as well as using NFTs as payment proof for physical items.
With that in mind, we come to the conclusion that 2022 is definitely going to be ground-breaking for the crypto industry.
